Bicycle lane on the inspection channel of East Flood Canal (KBT), alongside the bridge in Duren Sawit-Cipinang Besar Selatan Bridge, Jatinegara will be opened for public transportations start from 6 AM- 9 AM. It aims to anticipate the traffic jam that always happens on the area almost everyday especially in the morning and evening such as Jalan R Soekamto, Jalan Kolonel Sugiono and Jalan Basuki Rachmat.

Head of East Jakarta Communications Sub-Department, Bernard octavianus Pasaribu stated, the opening bicycle lane for public transportation is only applied on Monday-Friday from 6 AM-9 AM and closed on Saturday-Sunday due to used as jogging track.

Formerly, the opening bicycle lane was only started from Pondok Bambu Bridge on Jalan Pahlawan Revolusi. However, it is added on the bridge in Duren Sawit due to the density vehicle numbers in the morning. Moreover, the most motorcycles from Bekasi-Jakarta always stop beyond the zebra cross.

"The bicycle lane along the northside of KBT is opened to anticipate the traffic jam which was closed due to jogging track. Yet the opening time is limited, that is only on Monday-Friday 6 AM-9 AM," said Pasaribu, Monday (3/9).

His side will deploy 15-20 officers to handle the traffic in each junction on the path. "Each junction will be guarded by 3-4 officers. They will be in charge for opening and closing the lane with portal or movable concrete barrier," he uttered.
